Over-the-counter products and medicines
Male sexual enhancement supplements recalled due to prescription medicine contamination
- Vitality capsules (maker: One Source Nutrition)
Comment: The maker of this product recalled it after FDA testing found that it was tainted with two prescription medications for erectile dysfunction, sildenafil and tadalafil. These drugs can cause serious side effects, including a dangerous drop in blood pressure. This risk is highest among people who are also taking heart medicines such as nitroglycerin. A sudden and significant drop in blood pressure may cause heart attack, stroke, or death.
The recalled product is sold as a dietary supplement for male sexual enhancement.
Vitamin supplement recalled due to contamination with prescription medicine
- Vitafer-L Gold Liquid (maker: Natural Dior LLC)
Comment: The maker of this product recalled multiple lots of this product because they were found to contain tadalafil, a prescription drug for erectile dysfunction. Tadalafil may cause serious side effects, including a dangerous drop in blood pressure. This risk is highest among people who are also taking heart medicines such as nitroglycerin. A sudden and significant drop in blood pressure may cause heart attack, stroke, or death.
The recalled product is sold as a dietary supplement with iron and vitamins to boost energy.
Sinus wash system recalled due to bacterial contamination
- SinuCleanse Soft Tip Squeeze Bottle Nasal Wash System (maker: Ascent Consumer Products Inc.)
Comment: The maker of this product recalled one lot after testing found contamination with the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. People using this contaminated product could develop sinus infections that might lead to infections of the eye or brain. Other serious and potentially life-threatening infections could occur, including infections of the bloodstream, heart valves, bones, or joints.
The recalled product is marketed as a nasal wash for temporary relief of symptoms due to sinus infections, colds, flu, or allergies.
